Microsoft's Azure cloud platform has launched its first large-scale cluster of Nvidia's GB300 NVL72 systems, featuring over 4,600 Blackwell Ultra GPUs interconnected via Quantum-X800 Infiniband. The deployment marks a significant leap in AI supercomputing capability, with CEO Satya Nadella signaling plans to expand to hundreds of thousands of chips.

Nvidia's VP Ian Buck emphasized the system's capacity to power trillion-parameter AI models, while Microsoft's Nidhi Chappell highlighted its 37TB memory and 1.44 exaflop FP4 performance per VIRTUAL machine. The infrastructure accelerates complex AI reasoning tasks, positioning Azure as a critical enabler for OpenAI and other AI developers.
